The Geographies of Grief: Embodied Walking, Loss, and Belonging
An ongoing interdisciplinary research project using walking, filmmaking, photography, sound, and text to explore individual, collective, and ecological grief.
What isn't walked and recorded is lost.
I walk through mountains, forests, and cities with a camera, sound recorder and notebook, listening to people and places.
My walking practice grew from loss. After losing my mother at thirteen and my father in 2021, I began thinking about memory, voices, absence and what remains when someone is gone. I walk to trace these fragments, to listen to stories, record voices, map landscapes and search for a sense of home.
I walk to listen.
I walk to remember.
I walk to find home.
