Feroza Gulzar is a documentary filmmaker, photographer, and researcher based in Brussels, Belgium. She grew up in the mountains of Pakistan and is now trying to make sense of life in the very flatlands of Belgium.
Her work moves through themes of memory, grief, healing, walking, and the ways we make sense of loss, often through intimate, personal stories. She has walked thousands of kilometres across different parts of the world, sometimes looking for answers, sometimes looking for a story, and occasionally just trying to figure things out.
Mountains, however, remain a constant. She is interested in the relationship between humans and landscapes, and in the knowledge, traditions, and ways of living that are slowly disappearing. Her practice moves between personal and observational documentation, with a particular interest in people, place, landscape, walking, memory, and ecology.
She holds a Master’s degree in Documentary Film Directing from DocNomads, an international joint master’s programme.
And yes, she still misses the mountains.
